The 2024 Patriot League Championships began with the 200 medley relay, 800 free relay, and women’s 3-meter diving. This year, four different teams ended the first day with event wins, compared to Navy’s sweep of the opening night events last year.
The Navy women set a meet record in the 200 medley relay, with Ela Habjan, Riley Gavigan, Caroline Irwin, and Maya Novack achieving a combined time of 1:39.15, shaving 0.75-seconds off the previous record. While the men’s race saw Loyola prevail over the defending champs to reset pool, meet, and conference records (1:24.79).
In the 800 free relay, the Lehigh women earned the top spot on the podium, with Navy closely following. The men’s title in the 800 free relay was defended by Navy. On the boards, BU teammates Sophia Souza and Sumi Cameron took 1st and 2nd in the women’s 3-meter diving event, a departure from Navy or Army’s usual dominance.
